Krakow Jazz festival is on (we went to the New Orleans style parade last week) and Lublin Jazz festival is about to begin. Perfect time to be in Poland.
Count Binface: The hero we need, not the one we deserve. (UK Politics context)
It’s quite impressive that Trump has managed to make FIFA sink to a new level of corruption but if anyone could, it’s him.
The strangest thing about AI is that I now catch myself writing “…is not…it’s….” or one of those similar AI cliche’s and I stop myself. And I don’t know if I would have wanted to write that anyway, or if using AI/seeing AI slop has infected my imagination so it made me think of that.
Here’s a really interesting side effect of people using AI at work.
We’ve been planning to update some web pages as they aren’t working. There’s a series of them and it would make sense if we were fairly consistent in how we approach them (especially as it would aid the designers).
A new joiner has been making suggestions and generally brings up the same issues. But, he’s put forward about four different solutions to these problems.
I didn’t notice at first, but when he put forward a set of “quick wins” that didn’t match the solutions he previously provided, and ignored what we were doing for the related project that also impacted this, I realised it might be due to simply prompting an LLM and getting what the LLM saw as quick wins (plus the natural variation in LLM response).
It’s possible that he just isn’t the most thoughtful person but I suspect reliance on LLM is more likely (especially as he produces mockups that are definitely generated by an LLM). But perhaps relaying on an LLM and not noticing these issues is the same as not being the most thoughtful person.
Anyone else seen a situation where OKRs both “More guidance than a goal, and something to help us learn rather than strict requirements” while also being “You didn’t hit your OKRs therefore we have to let you go”. Asking for a friend.
In the last month, the way people use AI at work has gone CRAZY. I just asked someone to validate some data AI had given me…and I got an AI response. I also had someone take my outline, turn it into a more verbose outline with emoji (and mistakes) and then asked me to check “their” outline.
My Spider-man brand new day theory. Peter isn’t going to become the man-spider, It’s a misdirect and actually he’s going to get the venom suit. I wouldn’t put a big bet on this but with doomsday (and secret wars) coming, it would be a great tie in (and Venom would also help explain the organic webbing and black eyes).
